The Aston Martin DB5 is one of the most iconic grand tourers in automotive history, celebrated for its elegance, performance, and timeless design. Introduced in 1963, the DB5 was the successor to the DB4 and quickly became a symbol of British luxury and craftsmanship. Designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, the car featured a sleek, aerodynamic aluminum body and a luxurious interior that set new standards for grand touring cars.
Under the hood, the DB5 was powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six engine producing around 282 horsepower, paired with either a five-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission—enabling top speeds of over 145 mph, remarkable for its era. Advanced features like reclining seats, wool pile carpets, and optional amenities such as electric windows and a fire extinguisher made it the epitome of sophistication.
The DB5’s fame was cemented globally when it debuted as James Bond’s car in the 1964 film “Goldfinger”, equipped with gadgets like an ejector seat, machine guns, and an extendable bulletproof shield. Since then, it has become an enduring symbol of luxury, British engineering, and cinematic allure.
Aston Martin produced only 1,059 units of the DB5 between 1963 and 1965, making it highly collectible today. Its combination of performance, style, and cultural significance has cemented its place as a legendary classic car.
